He uses indigenous yeasts and estate-grown grapes to handcraft wines that express the vine- yard’s unique maritime terroir. He also co-founded Long Island Sustainable Winegrowing, the first sustainability program on the East Coast, in 2012. WebLocated in the downstate region of New York, east of New York City, Long Island is an island measuring roughly 120 miles in length and 23 miles at its greatest width. The eastern third of the island is split by two peninsulas: the North Fork and the South Fork. The shape resembles a fish with the two forks forming its tail.
