Scrambling over rocks, we emerged in a large open, barren space. WebHighlands Hammock is a destination in the East Section of the Great Florida Birding and Wildlife Trail. The park features 15 distinct natural communities in its more than 9,000 acres, with a diversity of habitat for wading birds, raptors, songbirds, migratory birds and ducks.
